European Waterways Continues Summer of Specials with Voyages on the Canal du Midi in France
Last-Minute Availability Makes Luxury Hotel Barge Enchante’ A Great Value on Select Cruises
European Waterways , Europe’s largest luxury hotel barge operator, continues its “summer of specials” with a range of 6-night cruises on the waterways of France. Among them, the 8-passenger Enchanté, whose spacious cabins are the largest of any hotel barge on the 300-year old Canal du Midi, offers a $1,000 off per person, based on double occupancy, for departures on August 11 and August 18, with fares starting at $4,540 per person, after the discount.
European Waterways $1,000 reduction per person on two Canal du Midi cruises aboard the eight-passenger Enchante’.
A UNESCO world heritage site, the tree-lined Canal du Midi features attractive towpaths for walkers, joggers and bikers. It wanders along the sun-drenched Mediterranean shore of South Western France before meandering inland to reward travellers with magnificent views of the snow-capped Pyrenees Mountains and the rolling Minervois vineyards.
Enchanté, with its double decks, is contemporary in style, with four spacious and well-appointed, en-suite twin/double suites, air-conditioning, a large lounge/saloon, sun deck with hot tub, alfresco dining area and a demonstration galley where guests can watch the skilled chef at work. The Enchante’s tastefully furnished interior features exotic hardwoods and a remodeled dining area with a stylish, contemporary twist, bringing to this barge “a new level of luxury and comfort on the famed Canal du Midi,” according to Derek Banks, managing director of European Waterways.
Like all the hotel barges in the European Waterways fleet, Enchanté is fully crewed with a captain, gourmet chef, hostesses and a tour guide. Based on double occupancy, all fares include: comfortable accommodation in air-conditioned, en-suite cabins, all meals on board, fine wines, open bar, daily escorted shore excursions, entrance fees to scheduled tours, local transfers and the use of all onboard bicycles to explore the towpaths.
Enchanté is also ideal for multi-generational vacations. For those wishing to travel with friends or family, the vessel can be chartered exclusively at 10% off for departure August 4 and October 27. The cost for an eight-passenger charter: $38,070, which includes the 10% reduction.
As always, European Waterways offers a minimum of 10% commission to travel agents on all bookings.
About European Waterways
The hotel barging experience is different from large vessel river cruising, offering a slower-paced, “gentle voyage of discovery” along the more intimate canals and waterways of Europe, allowing a small number of guests to become more fully immersed in the culture, history and gastronomy of the region. European Waterways is Europe’s largest all-inclusive luxury hotel barging company, offering vacations in nine countries and carrying over 2,000 passengers a year. Founded nearly 40 years ago, they own, operate and market a private fleet of luxury hotel barges with cruises in France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, England, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. Pioneers in hotel barging, they were the first company to operate a hotel barge on the Upper Nivernais in Burgundy, and the “real” Loire Valley. They are also the only company offering hotel barge cruises in Scotland and in the Venetian lagoon and River Po valley.
